Queer Youth and Social Media
We want to help parents understand how social media sites work for (and against) their LGBTQ children.Young people need the internet to engage with others, and in many cases, to be totally anonymous while exploring social media. We want to empower parents to be able to keep their kids safe without violating their privacy.

Elise Bargman will explain today’s social media favored by LGBTQIA youth.

Elise Bargman is a recent graduate of St. Louis Park High School, where she served as president of the Gender Sexuality Alliance (formerly the Gay-Straight Alliance) for three years. She has led two school staff professional development trainings about supporting LGBTQ students, and is currently lobbying the school board to pass a policy to protect transgender students. Additionally, she was an intern at OutFront Minnesota and the cohost of the 2015 MN GSA Network Youth Summit. She will be attending Grinnell College in the fall.
